The MedSoc Polar Bear Run 2009
Wednesday 4th March 2009 at 1.00pm - Swansea bay (across from Singleton Park)
The Polar Bear Run is the biggest annual fundraising event hosted
by the Swansea MedSoc, whereby those involved run 200m into the
wintry waters of Swansea Bay dressed as ridiculous as possible .
This year the run will be supporting the St David’s Medical Foundation
together with a number of other local charities including: the School
of Medicine’s Swansea-Gambia Link, Ty Hafan Children’s Hospice,
Swansea Young Single Homeless Project and the RNLI.
There is no minimum sponsorship to take part in this event but
monies will have to be submitted with sponsorship forms within
one month of taking part. Participants must wear fancy dress and
will need to sign an insurance waiver on the day. Those taking
part are advised not to bring valuables to the beach however please
do bring the following: a towel, a change of clothes, appropriate
footwear for the run, a hot drink and a waterproof bag.

Official Campaign Launch
On the 8th of October 2008 we will officially launch our campaign and the Founders’ Club, in the Institute of Life Science at Swansea University.
The celebrations will include the unveiling of our benefactor’s board with Alun-Wyn Jones and James Hook of the Ospreys. We will also be touring the labs to see where the disease-fighting research takes place and formally thanking some of our generous donors.
