About St David's Medical Foundation

Dear Friend,

St. David’s Medical Foundation delivers vital support for the further advance of Swansea University’s new School of Medicine and its research arm, the Institute of Life Science.

We believe the School of Medicine and Institute of Life Science are great causes for support, because we are committed to advance in medical education, in medical research, in advancing the delivery of healthcare through the NHS, and because we are a very energetic enterprise devoted to innovation and progress.

The School is home to Wales’ Graduate-Entry Medicine degree programme. In this course, outstanding graduates from a range of backgrounds undertake a fast-track four-year training course to become a doctor.

In research, the School’s Institute of Life Science promotes interdisciplinary work between the School’s medical researchers (led by nearly 30 professorships), other university scientists (e.g. Engineering), and industrial partners (including IBM in supercomputing and Boots in innovation).

St. David’s Medical Foundation is making a special appeal to supporters who wish to advance our ambitions for medical advance and better health. Your involvement can make a vital difference to the achievement of our goals in medical education, research and clinical innovation.  We want to hear from you, want to tell you more and hope that you will join and support us.

Professor Julian Hopkin, MD FMedSci
Inaugural Rector of the School of Medicine and Institute of Life Science, Swansea University.
